4-Day Weekend Recap & a Recipe

Ugh, I am pretty sure I am not the only one who considered taking off of work today. I woke up with a massive migraine and my body just hurts all over. But I sucked it up and went to work. Is it bad that I am already trying to keep my head up by reminding myself it is less than one month until we are off for Christmas?

So on Thanksgiving I went to Jesse's Aunt's house. I had a really great time and thankfully, the dessert I had made turned out amazing. I took a recipe for Pumpkin Crumble Bars off of Pinterest, surprise surprise, to take there and decided not to make them until the morning of. Even though I woke up at about 6:00 a.m. and we didn't leave until 1ish, I just barely had enough time to make them. After you bake the bars, they have to cool down and then be refrigerated for at least 4 hours. Thankfully Jesse helped me a little bit which made it so much easier on me. Baking desserts with a pumpkin type filling can be tricky sometimes because it can be difficult to tell if it is actually baked all the way and then you usually have to let it cool and refrigerate for hours afterwards. Almost the entire time we were at Jesse's Aunt's house leading up to dessert, I was so freakin' nervous and just constantly thinking about whether or not the dessert was actual done. But I breathed a huge sigh of relief when I picked up the first slice after seeing that it came out pretty much perfectly. And I was pretty darn excited when I saw that everyone had eaten so much food that they hardly touched anyone's desserts because that meant we got to take home the rest of my pumpkin crumble bars. They are sooo good and I highly recommend them.

And on Black Friday Jesse had originally requested that we literally do nothing and go nowhere. He just wanted to relax and sleep. Welll that didn't happen. We just have not been able to sleep in past 6 or 7 (but that is kind of sleeping in when you get up at 3 a.m. during the week). We did end up going out but only to run just a few errands- not Black Friday shopping related- and then I did minimal Black Friday shopping online. As of right this second, the only online shopping I did this weekend was for Christmas presents, panties from Aerie because they were 10 for $32 and I think it is impossible for a girl to have too much underwear, and a throw for the living room. I'm pretty sure that's it- I think.

On Saturday we went to my mom's since we didn't see her on Thanksgiving. We brought little wiggle butt Audrey so that she could play with her Bulldog family members, Gretta and George. And then one of my uncles and aunts, my grandmother, and 2 of my cousin's kids ended up coming over around the same time as Jesse, Audrey, and I. So Jesse got to meet them. We all had a really great time and Jesse and my uncle got along great. He even invited Jesse to come down to my grandmothers the day after Christmas to go hunting. So it looks like I am actually going to my grandmothers this year in Virginia around Christmas, which I have not done in a long time. It will only be for the day and I am still working out details with the dogs but yup, looks like I'm going to Virginia that Saturday. I am so happy that he's getting along with my family and I am getting along with his. No family drama please.

Audrey, Gretta, and George being typical English Bulldogs trying to hog the spotlight.

And we got the living room painted Sunday! I still need to put a fresh coat of paint on the trim but at least the walls are painted. I am not 100% thrilled with the color and this color is also going to be the color of the hallway and the kitchen. I wanted a light neutral grey/ greige. It looked similar to what I wanted when the paint went on the wall. However, when it dried, it ended up being a silvery type grey/ grey with blue undertones. It's a pretty shade, don't get me wrong, but it isn't want I had wanted and envisioned for this room (and the hallway and kitchen). But it isn't horrible and I refuse to repaint it or get Jesse to repaint it, so I will just have to deal. Plus, I'm sure I won't even notice it that much once I get shelving and some decor up. I do love that it is starting to look like a home though and the paint is definitely helping with that.

Well, I hope everyone has a great week and just remember, Christmas will be here in less than a month.

I'm Thankful For...

I cannot believe Thanksgiving is just 2 days away! The end of this year has been flying by so fast and before you know it, it'll be 2016. Well, anyways, I figured I would do a post on what I am thankful for since Thanksgiving is this week.

1. My Dogs. I am so beyond thankful for my fur babies. Gemma, Tigger, and Audrey mean the world to me and I am so blessed to have them in my life. They have helped me and still do help me get through so much and always brighten my day... even when they are being naughty.

Speaking of being naughty. The dogs' crates have two doors, front and side. Well the side door on Audrey's crate must have been partially unlocked or somehow Audrey unlocked it. By the way, the crates are in the dog room with the gate shut (I use a gate instead of a door) but I came home to a mess. Poop, shredded puppy pads and... she messed up one of the new dog beds that I haven't even taken a picture of yet. She ripped the waterproof material that covers the mattress off, chewed some of the foam part of the mattress and peed on the foam. Therefore, the mattress is ruined. She also chewed a corner of the actual bed. I'm throwing out the mattress and not buying a new one. The bed will still be used but I'm either putting it in the living room or adding it to the one in the bedroom (I'm thinking the bedroom). I was so mad because Jesse had worked so hard and because I haven't been feeling well and just did not need to come home from work to this. But I still love my little roley poley girl.

2. My Mom. I can't thank my mom enough for everything she has done for me. Like seriously. She is such a great mom and I am forever grateful. She has helped make me into the woman I am today and I would not be where I am now without her.

3. My Sister. We have had a lot of ups and downs- cursing each other out, not talking to each other, and so on, but we're sisters. I'm always going to be there for her and she will be there for me and I love her to death.

4. Jesse. He is seriously the most amazing boyfriend ever, like forreal. He spoils me and treats me how I deserve to be treated. I've never been in a relationship like this one and I am so thankful that we found each other... thanks Tinder. I believe in fate and I truly believe this is fate. I can't wait to see what the future holds for us.

5. My Job. Work is stressful and drives me crazy sometimes but I am so thankful for my job. A lot of people don't have jobs and I am lucky enough to not only have one, but to have one that allows me to have everything I have and be so independent.

6. My House. I am truly proud of myself for only being 24 and have already bought my 2nd house. I love this house. It isn't my forever home but it is perfect right now and I can't wait to continue to make it a home.

7. My Car. I know that a lot of people have cars but I am still thankful to have one. I rely on it so much, especially with my hour and a half commute to work. I like it so much better than the other car that I had when I was writing my post last year on things I am thankful for. It has so much more room, which is better for the dogs and hauling things. I'm not sure if it is the best car for my long drives to work and with driving so much in the snow, but we shall see when Winter comes.

8. My Health. I don't have the best health but I'm not going to go on and blab about that. I am thankful that my health isn't worse than it is and that I am able to push through and still be as independent as I am.

9. That I Caught Someone Using My Credit Card in Time. I keep track of my expenses every single week on a spreadsheet that I made using Excel. Also on that spreadsheet is a tab for tracking some of my debt like credit cards and my car loan to see how much interest I paid each month, my balance each month, etc. I knew that my Capital One credit card statement was ready, which meant I could update that portion of my debt tracker. I went to the transactions, where it also shows how much interest I had to pay that month, and it showed that last Wednesday, someone had made a purchase using my card or card info. Whoever did this used it at some type of drug store/ pharmacy that is only in Arizona and it also has elderly care and a lot of other services. I googled it after seeing the charge and location and the site seemed kind of sketchy. I honestly don't even know how this person was able to do this. I still have my card and I am all the way in PA. Plus, I haven't even made any purchases with my card since February or March. Either way, I am so thankful that I caught it in time and reported it and luckily the charge made was only $38 and some change.

10. My Followers. I am still figuring out this whole blogging thing and haven't had much time to work on it lately, but I'm not abandoning this blog and I do still have future hopes and goals for this blog. I wouldn't be able to do it without all of you though. Y'all are so important and I am so thankful for all of you. I love you all and I hope you continue to stick around!

Now we just have to make it through the work day tomorrow and then hello 4-day weekend! Happy early Thanksgiving!

Weekend Recap/ Bulldog Playdate

I got my weekend recap done on Monday again! But I am so freakin' tired, it isn't even funny. I just keep reminding myself that it is a 3-day work week. And even though this 4-day weekend is going to be busy, I am still looking forward to it. My main goals are cleaning, baking, and getting the living room painted. But let's not get ahead of ourselves. Here is what went on this past weekend...

My sister is home for Thanksgiving break!!! So Jesse, Audrey, and I headed on over to my mom's and Jesse and my sister got to meet. I only got to see my sister for about 15-30 minutes before she took off to go hang out with her boyfriend and friends. I haven't seen her since mid August, so even though it was brief, it was still nice to see her. I plan to see her again this weekend anyway. Oh yea, my mom gave my hair a little trim too (and then on Sunday I dyed it just a tad darker).

We also got to meet my mom's new alpacas. Yes, my mom now has alpacas and is getting 1 more, a miniature donkey, and some chickens too. I don't know if I've ever seen an alpaca up close. I know I've passed alpaca farms but I don't think I've ever pet one or fed one. Having them eat out of your hand... I don't even know how to describe what that feels like but it is weird. Homer is definitely food motivated and seems like his stomach is a bottomless pit. Bufford on the other hand is apparently a divo. My mom says he has an attitude. While giving Homer snacks, Bufford kept his distance observing from far away. I was so determined to pet him. I walked slowly and quietly trying to get to him. Hell, I even tried walking like an alpaca (but not on all fours) and started humming and making clicking noises to try to get him to let me pet him. My mom and Jesse found it hysterical and y'all probably think I'm crazy but I wanted to gain his trust. Apparently alpacas hum a lot and they make a clicking noise when they play sometimes- so that's why I was doing that. He finally let me pet him for a quick nanosecond but that was it. Oh and guess what??? Miss scaredy pants Audrey wasn't scared of the alpacas! As soon as we let her into the yard (not in where the alpacas are), she darted to their fence. She was watching them and running up and down along the fence line. It was so shocking and cute. Moments like these make me so proud of her.

Ok, I am really having issues concentrating right now, sooo I'm just going to end this post with pictures from when I went to my mom's house.

Doesn't she look so adorabull in her new fleece hoody from Baxter Boo? All ready to go to Mee Maw's.

Audrey and Jesse checking out the alpacas.

 My mom feeding Homer.

 Bufford, the divo.

And the wiggle butts take off!

They all have the same hoodie but in different colors.

 Three little piggies.

Gretta is in the yellow, Audrey is in the pink, and George is in the green.

Whatchu lookin' at?

If you've been looking at my Instagram lately, you've already seen a sneak peak of the bedroom and one of the dog beds. And the Christmas cards came! So be on the lookout for upcoming posts on the Christmas cards and dog beds. I hope the work week goes by quickly for everyone!

Weekend Recap

"Happy" Monday everyone. So I was determined to get this weekend recap post done on Monday and I succeeded! Yes!

Friday, Jesse surprised me. He came home with food to make dinner for us on the new grill he bought on a whim on Thursday and he bought me a new laptop!!! I needed a new laptop so so sooo badly. Mine is just beyond messed up and I think it might have a virus or something, I don't know, but regardless, I needed a new laptop and he bought me one. Eeek!!! And it is a beautiful red color to match the red in the kitchen. I am still shocked he bought me a new laptop. I just can't believe it. I just can't even.

(Excuse the mess)

And then I ended up drinking too much strong wine Friday night. I felt sick the next morning and kept having foot cramps in both feet. So I took it a little easy on Saturday and didn't do much besides errands later in the day, which definitely included picking up magnesium supplements for the foot cramps. Annnd I got like zero cleaning done this weekend. So one of my main goals this coming weekend is to get some cleaning done.

Sunday Jesse and I painted the bedroom! I LOVE the color. It is Orion Grey by Bear. I can't wait to show y'all but that'll have to wait a little while longer. This weekend I plan to do some paint touch ups and I also plan to get all of the trim painted in the dog room and the bedroom. I was originally planning on trying to get the living room painted this coming weekend but there just isn't enough time and the trim in the bedroom and dog room still need to be painted, sooo my new goal (if I get the trim painted in the bedroom and dog room completed this weekend) is to have the hallway, living room, and kitchen painted before the first of the year. *Knock on Wood*

Oh yea and the two pallet dog beds Jesse made are finished! I just have to put the sheets on them and put the smaller one in the dog room and the bigger one in the bedroom. I can't wait to show those to y'all too. I am so blessed and so happy with life.

Well I think that pretty much sums up this past weekend. Have a great week!

Tattoo #8: Audrey, My English Bulldog

This is so beyond late but 4 weeks ago I got tattoo #8. I went back to my main man Don at Tattoo Dynasty and I got Audrey's face/ head tattooed on me.

I've wanted an English Bulldog tattoo for a while but never thought in a million years I would actually get one (unless it was an animated type one) because I was so scared that whatever artist I went to would screw it up. Portraits are really difficult to tattoo in general whether they are of a person or an animal. But when I saw some of Don's recent amazing black and white realism animals he had tattooed, I knew I had to hit him up and ask if he wanted to do a black and white realism English Bulldog tattoo on me. Of course he said yes.

I decided that I didn't want a full body of an English Bulldog tattooed on me and I was flexible with whether or not he was going to actually tattoo Audrey on me. I was open to him just tattooing a generic bulldog's face but I also sent him pictures of Audrey. I tried my best to get some good pictures of her but that girl can be stubborn- although recently she seems to have grown fond of the camera. Whether he tattooed a generic English Bulldog on me or actually tattooed Audrey, one thing was for sure, the bulldog tattoo had to have her markings. The most important part being her winged/ cat eye eyeliner markings. It isn't uncommon for an English Bulldog- or any type of bulldog- to have eyeliner markings but I have yet to see one with the cat eye eyeliner markings and those markings around both eyes. Besides the fact that I love those markings on her, it also made the tattoo more personal.

Ultimately we decided to combine a photo of Audrey and a photo of a full grown adult English Bulldog that had a similar head and face shape to Audrey's. Audrey is only a year and a half old, so she still has somewhat of a puppy face. English Bulldogs grow until they are 3 and while I don't really think she'll get much bigger, she will probably get wider (both in her body and head). I could've gotten Audrey's head/ face- ok, I'm just going to refer to it as her face- tattooed exactly how she looks now but it just wasn't what I wanted. I've seen people get their English Bulldogs tattooed on them as puppies and that's cool and all but for me personally, I wanted a more adult version of her. I know, I'm complicated.

Anyways... so on Friday, October 16th, I hauled my ass on down to Don's shop after work and taking care of the babies. I was stoked and I had complete confidence in him. While tattooing me, he taped a picture of the generic bulldog we had decided on and a picture or 2 (I can't remember if it was 1 or 2 but I think 2) of Audrey onto his leg as a reference. [God I love being tattooed. It is so relaxing, especially at Tattoo Dynasty- the atmosphere is just so awesome.] Each time he got more and more of the tattoo completed, I loved it just that much more.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE it!!! It makes me smile every time I look at it and I literally cannot stop looking at it. I have my little baby roley poley Audrey Georgina on me forever.

Oh yea and guess what? This was the first English Bulldog Don has ever tattooed and the 4th dog portrait he has ever done. I definitely feel extra special.

Here are some fresh pictures I took when I got home after getting tattooed.

And here are some healed pictures:

   Have a great weekend!

Weekend Recap and Christmas Pictures

Hey I didn't do that bad this week. I actually got a weekend recap posted the day after Monday instead of the mid- end of the week. I'm really trying here.

This past weekend was busy, as usual. Jesse played golf on Saturday while I ran some errands and worked on laundry and cleaning. There is still so much to do with the house between buying things, painting, decor, etc. My goal is to have the bedroom, living room, hallway, and kitchen painted by the end of this month. The 3rd bedroom as well as some other rooms and projects have been put on the back burner for right now. The only room that has been painted so far is the dog room and I still need to paint the trim in there. I'm hoping to paint the bedroom this weekend.

Sunday morning after the dogs were fed and Jesse made us breakfast and got me a peppermint mocha latte from Starbucks, we gave all 3 dogs baths. They needed them badly. I slacked on giving them baths with the move and unpacking and everything. There's still some clay dirt in my yard from when I had the new fence installed and it is getting the dogs very dirty. So besides the fact that they needed baths, I also bathed them because I wanted to take their Christmas photos.

It was a little difficult getting their photos but I mean, I am dealing with three dogs here and trying to get them all in one photo. Overall, I'd still call it a success. If you've seen my Facebook or Instagram, then you've already seen all of the photos from their little shoot. I'm pretty positive that I have the picture picked out for this year's Christmas card but I might end up choosing a 2nd photo to go on the back of the card. I'm not sure yet but I have a little bit of time to decide since I haven't even picked out the cards yet. Here are just a few of the photos but you can see more on my Instagram and Facebook.

Sitting youngest to oldest.

Sitting oldest to youngest.

They are so precious!!!

Look at all of that drool while Gemma is just being cute and Audrey is sniffing the enemy a.k.a a leaf.

Treat bribing was a must this year.
And as you can see, Tigger is very food motivated.

Doesn't she kind of look like a turkey?

So which picture do you think should be on this year's Christmas card?

Halloween and Tigger Turns 3

Yay, it's Friday!!! I have been so busy- during the week and on the weekends. I need to give myself a kick in the ass tomorrow morning and make sure I get the floors in the house cleaned because they sure do need it. But first let's give a late weekend recap.

So I usually hand make all of the dogs' Halloween costumes (with the exception of Audrey's costume last year), but with selling a house and moving in the beginning of October, I knew that it just wasn't going to happen this year. It would've been so extremely stressful and I just didn't really have the time at all. So I just used pieces of clothing and accessories that they already had in their wardrobes.

Audrey as Minnie Mouse

Tigger as a Cowboy

She is so sassy sometimes
Gemma as a Punk Princess

They were actually all really excited to dress up and take pictures. Audrey was very excited to show Jesse her costume when he came home from work. She just absolutely adores him and he adores her [insert heart eyes emoji]. Even though Gemma is THE princess, Jesse calls Audrey his princess.

Besides dressing up the dogs and running errands, we went to Jesse's friend's house for a dinner they were having (no dressing up involved) later that night. I overindulged in sangria- whoops- but we had a really great time. It was a lot of fun.

First picture of my new man on the blog

Once Halloween was over, it was time to celebrate Tigger's (formerly known as Mowgli) birthday! This little boy turned 3 on November 1st (and so did my mom's English Bulldog, George a.k.a Prince George). We really didn't do much celebrating but I did give him some extra treats and put his birthday shirt on, which I think makes him feel special. And Jesse worked on Tigger's dog bed some more, which is almost finished. Oh yea, did I forget to mention that Jesse is making a pallet dog bed for Tigger and then a big pallet dog bed for all of the dogs for the bedroom? Can't wait until they are all finished so that I can show y'all!!! There is so much that I want to do to the house but I know that it is going to take a long time. So I do plan to start showing you what I have done to the rooms/ house so far and what I plan on doing to them soon.

Yes, I know, these aren't the best pictures but we were all tired on Sunday and Tigger was so beyond done with taking pictures. At least I got some great ones of him on Halloween.

I cannot wait until next Halloween! I plan to hand make their costumes next year and I already have a few ideas. Enjoy your Friday and have a great weekend!
