Rhylan's 3 Month Update

Image
3 Months Old

Weight: 13 lbs (68th percentile)
Length: 25" (95th percentile)

You're bigger at 3 months than your sister was at 4 months which is mind boggling to everyone but part of me thought you were a little bigger than her.

You're still in size 2 diapers and still usually drinking 3-6 oz every 3 hours but you now sleep about 8 hours at night (still in our bed in the cosleeper)!

You are still munching away at your hands and loving your wubbanub, Mr. Giraffe. You hold him, throw him, and wack yourself in the face with him. You also play with your hands and throw them up in the air a lot more now. I'll be on the couch and you'll be in the bassinet attachment in the pack n' play on your boppy and all of a sudden I'll see your fist fly up in the air like you're John Bender at the end of The Breakfast Club (you'll see this movie one day, I promise).

Your great aunt isn't watching you anymore, so you and sissy are home with dada for the time being…

Rhylan's 2 Month Update

Image
2 Months Old

We weighed mommy on the scale and then mommy holding you on the scale to try to estimate your weight and we tried measuring you with our measuring tape. We are estimating you to be 11 lbs and 23- 23 1/2" long.

B/c of the doctor's busy schedule this month, our busy schedules and me being back at work, your 2 month visit will be next month (big sister's 18 month visit also had to be pushed back to next month (you'll both be getting those visits together and will both get shots).

You're in size 2 diapers and you're usually drinking 4-6 ounces (but sometimes 2 or 3 oz) every 3 hours.

You are cooing and it is the most precious cutest thing ever!!! It seriously melts my heart and your daddy's heart. You talk up a storm. You will look at whoever is in front of you, stare at that person and start up a conversation.

During tummy time, you can push your upper body up some with your hands/ arms.
When you're being held/ doing tummy time on my chest/ bo…

Rhylan's 1 Month Update

Image
Well I figured with Rhylan turning 2 months old in 3 days, I should probably get her 1 month update typed up and posted.

1 Month Old

1 Week: 7 lbs 14 oz (you got back up to your birth weight and then some!) and I think you were measuring 20" long. 50th percentile all around.

1 Month: 9 lbs 14 oz 62nd percentile, 22 1/2" long 85th percentile, and head circumference was 39 cm 84th percentile.

Your hair changes between blonde, red, auburn and light brown.

You're in size 1 diapers.

You're a talker! You're constantly talking or making noises- even in your sleep!

You're still learning to take a bippy (pacifier) but it has been a challenge. You only like the soothie pacifiers. So we decided to buy you a giraffe wubbanub (your sister has a fox one and still loves it) and we have had some success! You now keep it in a lot longer.

You nap in your boppy or in my arms. You're sleeping in the co-sleeper in our bed next to me. You're definitely a mommy's girl…

Birth Story: Rhylan Violet

Image
I'm finally getting around to typing up and posting Rhylan's birth story. Better late than never, right?

Ok, so most of my pregnancy (the last half or so) I was convinced Rhylan was going to be born early. I was even convinced that she would end up being a March baby. It is so freakin' hard towards the end of pregnancy. You don't want to be pregnant anymore and you just want to meet and hold your baby. Once March passed, I was like "Ok, well she is still going to come early". And then once the gestational age that I had Rory at had passed, I'll admit I was a little down and surprised. But I am happy Rhylan came on my scheduled c-section date. Rory was at my mom's house, the dogs were at boarding, and we calmly (and anxiously/ impatiently) walked into the hospital to check in for my scheduled c-section.

I was definitely disappointed that my c-section wasn't scheduled for early morning b/c 1. I wanted my freakin' baby and 2. That meant …

Easter Weekend Recap

Image
I seriously can't believe this was Rory's 2nd Easter! It goes by so fast y'all! And we totally hit a parenting fail. We were going to dye eggs this year but had like no time in our schedule. We picked up an egg dying kit Friday night and when we went to dye the eggs Sunday morning, we realized we had no vinegar. Sooo egg dying will have to wait until next year.

Oh yea and good thing we didn't take her to see the Easter Bunny. He showed up at the grocery store Friday night and she was NOT a fan.

Anyways, so our Easter festivities started Saturday with an Easter egg hunt and late lunch at my aunt's house. A lot of my cousins and family were there with their kids and it was so much fun. It is especially awesome b/c a lot of the kids are so close in age. The older ones are close in age and then all of the younger ones are too. And what is even more fun is all of the younger ones are girls and my 2nd little girl will be added to the bunch in 1 week (or less if …

What's in My 1 Year Old's Easter Basket

Image
I can't believe it is not only almost the end of March but almost Easter!!! I still need to buy some plastic eggs (b/c why not?) and an egg dye kit for us to try to squeeze in some time to dye eggs with Rory this weekend.

Anywho... I'm sure there are so many of you out there that are wondering what the heck you put in a 1 year old's Easter basket. Whether it be for your own kid, your niece/ nephew, grandchild, or whoever, I'm going to let you in on what we put in Rory's Easter basket. By the way, can you believe this is Rory's SECOND Easter?!!! Like how?!

So I've been storing Rory's Easter presents in Rhylan's room and waited for her to go to bed so that I could finally put it together last night. She definitely got a little extra this year. I think I kind of wanted to spoil her a little extra since this will be her last Easter as an only child (unless Rhylan comes early).

Oh and that beautiful Easter basket is actually the Easter basket…

36 Week Bumpdate

How Far Along: 36 weeks and 2 days

Due Date: 4/14/18 but my c-section is scheduled for 4/11/18! But I would love for her to come tomorrow b/c tomorrow is the first day of spring and Rory was born on the first day of winter. How cool would it be to have a baby born on the first day of winter and one born on the first day of spring?!

Baby is the Size of: a large cantaloupe! Baby #2 should weigh 6 lbs and measure 19-22" long. I had my last ultrasound at 33 weeks and 4 days where Rhylan was weighing 5 lbs 8 oz. The high risk Dr is thinking she'll weigh between 8 1/2- 8 3/4 lbs when born and that I'll give birth between 38- 39 weeks like last time (I'll be 38 weeks on March 31st- that is this month!!!). I'm going to say she is going to be 8 lbs 2 oz and 22" long at birth.

Weight Gain: 38 lbs. The number "38" isn't so bad... it is the fact that I now weigh what I weighed when I gave birth to Rory. I have to keep reminding myself that I started out this p…

First Pregnancy Compared to Second Pregnancy

Wow look at me- 3 blog posts in 1 week, who is this woman???

So I decided to write a blog post comparing my pregnancies b/c as they say, "Each pregnancy is different". I seriously want to roll my eyes when Drs say that when I bring up something different about this pregnancy. I'm also a hypocrite b/c I've said this to a lot of women on my pregnancy app. I am 35 weeks and 4 days (4 weeks exactly from my c-section date!!!), so obviously there will be a few more things I haven't been able to compare yet but these are some comparisons as of right now.

1. Positive Pregnancy Test
First Pregnancy: Around 5 weeks? But then again, we weren't really trying per se, so I wasn't anxiously testing.

Second Pregnancy: I started feeling nauseous and different around 3 weeks and started testing. I would get very faint positive lines but thought my eyes were fooling me or that they could be control lines. I got my first definite positive (with the words and everything)…

Rory's Woodland/ Floral Room Reveal

Image
Ahh this post has been a long time coming. I never got around to posting Rory's nursery reveal b/c I went into active labor the week I was going to do the post. Buttt it worked out since I changed a lot of things in her room after she was born and changed a few more after we moved. By the way, when do you start calling your kid's room a room instead of a nursery??? At 1?

Any who, so before we found out Rory was a girl, we had decided on a woodland theme. I just had to have a theme picked out b/c I was dying to design the nursery and start buying things.  Like most men, it hadn't really hit Jesse that we were having a child and he let me take the reins on almost everything. After we found out we were having a girl, I decided to add "florals" to the theme. The color scheme was originally mint, gray and peach but at the time when I was pregnant with Rory, finding anything mint was nearly impossible and finding anything peach was literally impossible. And of co…
